“True West Virginia Ghost Stories” is a collection of over 400 hair raising stories, all true, that have been passed down for many generations in the mountain state. Over the past twelve years these stories have been archived by ‘West Virginia Ghosts’ and for the first time are being offered in anthology, full book form. The stories, written by different individuals, cover the entire spectrum of paranormal phenomena; ghosts, UFO’s, Bigfoot, strange animals and creatures, and many more. There are many unexplained events cataloged throughout the work. If you love the paranormal and are fond of the mountain state or Appalachia in general, take a trip down these haunted country roads with “True West Virginia Ghost Stories!”

The author/editor didn't really say where these came from, but I'd imagine he just asked people (or his students) to write him about any ghost/paranormal things they may have experienced or heard of and this is what he got. The stories certainly aren't edited for proper grammer, etc. But they seem sincere in their unsophisticated presentation and that makes for fun reading.

I don't suggest reading the entire book at once. After a few stories, they all seem to "run together" with very similar themes and often predictible endings. It's just a great little collection to have on your Kindle when you want to waste a few mintutes while needing to pass the time (hopefully not in traffic!) or reading a few before you turn off the bedroom light.

True West Virginia Ghost Stories edition by Jonathan Moore Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I absolutely LOVED this book not only were most of the stories believable except for two of them which I found to be a little far fetched. It is also about the state in which I live. I would recommend this book to anyone who is into the paranormal or strange happenings.

Daniel
Another scary book about West Virginia and very interesting.
This book is full of what I belive to be true ghost stories!
Thoroughly enjoyed the personal experience of the WV........some of the stories absolutely believable......I live in new Zealand and have experienced some unexplainable events particularly in the north island where Maori land wars were fought.....I am a believer in the paranormal🐱
Don't waste your money. Apparently the author took request from the public for ghost stories and copied directly to the book. Spelling, vocab, etc. are bad. Stories are redundant. Being a WV native I was looking forward to reading this book but after struggling through about 100 pages it went to the BR sink in case my solitaire game lost power.
Sorry.
True West Virginia Ghost Stories is a compilation of over 400 tales of ghosts, UFOs, cryptids, and all manner of creepy things from every corner of the Mountain State. These tales, which have been submitted to the WV Ghosts website over a period of 12+ years, and archived by founder, Jonathan Moore, are now available in print format, or in eBook format for your .

This book makes a perfect addition to any library of paranormal literature, especially those concentrating on West Virginia based phenomena. It is also a great read for anyone with only an armchair interest in the spooky side of things...the stories are told from the point of view of the witnesses, who come from a wide array of religious and cultural backgrounds. Their tellings make the stories come alive and accessible to those who don't necessarily want to be burdened with a scientific analysis or dissection of the story on a critical level. In short, the stories represent a good ol' fashioned tradition of story-telling that once flourished in the Appalachians, and is now being diligently recorded for future generations.

Some of the stories are told in-depth, while others only offer a fleeting glance condensed into the size of a paragraph, making this book the perfect format to read a little at a time...and at a length of over 300 pages, that's the best way to enjoy this book. I personally love the print format because it allows for the stories to be enjoyed on the readers' own terms. There's nothing I love more when the electricity goes out than to curl up under the candlelight with a good ghost story!
This is one of the best collections of WV ghost stories I have had the pleasure of reading. I rank it no. three beneath The Tell Tale Lilac Bush and Coffin Hollow both by Ruth Ann Musack sp.
There were many stories I had not heard/read before and some old favorites such as mothman and big foot sightings. Quite a few of the ghost stories will give you the creeps as any good ghost story should.
My least favorite chapter was the one on UFOs which I think did not belong in a book of ghost stories.
There is much to glean from these stories of the Appalachian culture of the past and present.
If you want a good read to chill you as you relax by the fire on a cold winter's night, then this is the book for you.
